Charter Fishing in North Carolina

Fishing is a popular past time in North Carolina and has long made it a tourist and fishing enthusiast destination for its diverse fish populations. You can find a great array of different fish throughout the inland and coastal regions of North Carolina; there are lots of charter boats willing to show eager fishermen where to look.

Where to go in North Carolina for the best fish

North Carolina fishing is generally separated into three sections: the northern coast, the central coast and the southern coast. Depending on which fish you are looking for, you should choose your coast carefully.

The northern coast boasts the biggest and baddest

The northern coast is well known for its offshore fishing and also boasts fruitful inshore fishing. In the north, you can find trophy marlin and lots of tuna. Inshore fishing in the north is known for its Red Drum Channel Bass. Simply put, the northern coast is the place to go if you want to test your mettle against strong fish.

The central coast is certainly no slouch

The central coast is most well-known for its Blue Marlins; the Big Rock tournament is held there to see who can catch the biggest Blue and White Marlins. Central offshore fishing also boasts the regular array of tuna and mackerel, while central inshore fishing can catch trout, bass, blue gill and flounder.

Finding grouper and snapper on the southern coast

In the south, you can find several types of mackerel, and offshore bottom fishing reaps grouper and snapper. Inshore, the southern coast is known for its bass and trout, as well as the standard fare.

No matter where you choose to fish in North Carolina, you are sure to find plenty of different delicious species of fish and a fun, challenging catch, if you so desire. Each of the three coasts have their strengths, and there is no reason not to visit all of them.
