Standard Charter Fishing Rates

Standard rates for charter tours vary based on a number of factors, such as location and the amount of people that you wish to bring along. As such, there are several questions and circumstances that you are going to want to keep in mind while planning your fishing venture.

The number of people in your group

Standards vary by location, but there is typically a threshold at which the flat rate per person rises depending on the number of peers that are going to accompany you on your charter tour. This number is usually somewhere around five to seven, but it also depends on the size of the boat and crew. Most of the time the crew consists of a captain and first mate. It is their job to ensure the safety of passengers in the vessel and that usually proves a much greater burden with large parties.

Distance and gas

Gas for a vessel is much more expensive than a car. In light of this, it is a good idea to take into account the distance that your trip is going to cover. A trip to a remote fishing location may sometimes yield a better catch, but at the end of the day it is more costly to fund the journey.

Group charters

To ease your personal expenditure, you may want to consider going on a group charter. This is almost always a better alternative if you only have a small collection of people in your group. You go out with another small group, and the cost of the expedition is split evenly.

Gear and equipment

It is typically your charter captain's responsibility to provide the group with all of the necessary fishing and safety equipment, and this factors into the price of the trip. While you can bring your own gear, the price typically does not change with respect to this.
